Years ago, Joanie’s grandfather-in-law, Harry “DA” Day, invited his family to the Lazy B Ranch each spring to see the desert poppies bloom. His daughter, Sandra, always accepted. As Joanie's children grew up, Grandma Sandra would pull the car over just to admire those bright flowers, saying, “Aren’t they just divine?”
Grandma Sandra, who grew up on that ranch and later became the first woman justice on the US Supreme Court, remains a major inspiration to our family and our designs. We combined this rich family history with a love for the beautiful Southwest to create Desert Poppy Paper Co.
